Know Your History

Kown your history!...What you dont Know can Hurt you...
Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta, also known as Shams ad - Din, was born at Tangier, Morocco, on the 24th February 1304 C.E. (703 Hijra). He left Tangier on Thursday, 14th June, 1325 C.E. (2nd Rajab 725 A.H.), when he was twenty one years of age. His travels lasted for about thirty years, after which he returned to Fez, Morocco at the court of Sultan Abu 'Inan and dictated accounts of his journeys to Ibn Juzay. These are known as the famous Travels (Rihala) of Ibn Battuta. He died at Fez in 1369 C.E.
Ibn Battuta was the only medieval traveller who is known to have visited the lands of every Muslim ruler of his time. He also travelled in Ceylon (present Sri Lanka), China and Byzantium and South Russia. The mere extent of his travels is estimated at no less than 75,000 miles, a figure which is not likely to have been surpassed before the age of steam.

Moroccan Communities in Canada

Moroccan.ca is committed to building a strong, vibrant and enduring Moroccan  community in Canada by nurturing the values, practices and traditions which sustain and enrich  the Moroccan  culture. Moroccan.ca exists to strengthen Moroccan  identity and continuity by providing opportunities to participate in quality experiences that enrich personal, cultural, social  growth, and by promoting the well-being of the entire Moroccan community and the community as a whole. Because of our deep interest in helping to preserve Moroccan culture and history abroad, and assisting the Moroccan  communities in these regions, we  have created this Web presentation to share the limited information. Whether you're new to   Canada  or have lived here for years, this site will be a valuable resource for you.

Canada and Morocco have had diplomatic relations since 1962. The ties of friendship and cooperation forged between the two countries have gradually grown stronger over the years. During the first 30 years, our relations were based on the Canadian Official Development Assistance program for Morocco, which spent some $400 million between 1963 and 1998.

Our common membership in La Francophone and the presence in Canada of a 60,000-strong Moroccan community (the largest North African community in Canada) bring our two countries closer together, as do the thousand or so Moroccan students who come to Canada every year to pursue their education. Although relatively modest, trade between Canada and Morocco has gradually increased over the past decade.

Immigrer au Canada

Canada: Visas & Immigration

  Image

The Moroccan Canadian Visa struggle,
